What databases can I use?
You may use MySQL, or a "flat file" database, depending on what type of account you have. Please contact us to have your MySQL database set up. There is a fee of $50 to set up the database. Make sure you include your desired username and password for the database. I want to use FrontPage's built in database connectivity. What do I do? To use FrontPage's built in database connectivity, you will need to put your database in a folder called fpdb. FrontPage will create this for you when you use the database wizard. You can not put your database in a a folder outside the /web folder if you are using FrontPage's built in database connectivity. How do I set up a Data Source Name (DSN)? Email us to have your DSN set up. Please include your desired username and password. Now that I have a DSN, how do I use it? To learn about using a DSN, please visit our DSN page. Can I use a DSN-less connection? Yes, you can use a DSN-less connection and this will generally result in improved performance of you database operations. However, we cannot offer technical support for DSN-less connections. Do I replace or update my database after making changes? Either is perfectly acceptable. Can I use a SQL Server database? No, not on our shared servers. SQL Server is a Microsoft database and can only be used on Microsoft operating systems. If you wish to user SQL Server, please contact us concerning a dedicated server. With a dedicated server, we can set it up with any operating system and software that you require.
